Destination stories
What makes a destination worth staying in — and why we choose the places we do, around real landscapes, local communities and honest hospitality.
A place is its people
Scenery is easy to photograph and hard to remember. A destination becomes memorable when it has people who care what happens to it — hosts who welcome you, communities whose everyday life you taste and hear and take part in.
That’s the filter we use. We don’t add a place because it’s famous; we add it because someone there can host our guests warmly and honestly, and because the landscape deserves visitors who treat it gently.
What makes a region feel real
- Local hosts who live there and know it deeply
- Seasons — each visit can feel like a new place
- Food grown and cooked in the region
- Landscape you can walk through, not just look at
- Community that benefits when you visit
Our current regions — highland plateaus, river valleys and forest homestays — all share these qualities. Browse what we visit on the destinations page, or meet some of the host properties we work with.
How to choose where to slow down
Ask what happens off the itinerary. Will you meet the family? Eat their food? Sleep somewhere with a story? If a destination can say yes to those, it’s usually worth a few unhurried days — and worth returning to in a different season.
Destination FAQs
How many destinations do you currently have?
A small, considered set by design — we’d rather host a few places very well. See the current list on our destinations page.
Are the destinations good in every season?
Different seasons suit different regions. If you have particular dates, ask us and we’ll recommend the place and time that best suit you.
